Our educational assessments in the middle of the 21st Century will need to reflect mid-twenty first century conceptions of what it will mean to be an educated person. The authors of this paper are asked to reflect upon the formulation of this problem that can be traced to Aristotle. What is required to enable learners to build for themselves a comprehensive and coherent understanding of the world? The problem is to better enable developing persons to understand, and make sense of, and solve the problems of the world in which they will live – a world for which all we confidently predict is change.  VIEW DRAFT
